I have been drawing since I can remember. I started out drawing superheroes and making my own comic books, using pen and ink. High School "drew" me to Industrial Design where my teacher encouraged me to try other mediums. I dabbled with painting, scratchboard, colored pencil amongst other mediums, but I still could not get away from using a pen and some ink as my medium of choice.
I am not sure what it is, but there is something special about using a pen and some ink to create images on paper. Maybe it is the way the ink flows out of a pen that makes it take on a life of its own and adds its own touch to my drawings, or the smell of the ink, I can't explain.
I mostly utilize the pointillism technique where images are created using dots to create shapes, tones and texture. This process can take hundreds of hours per drawing but the end results are worth it. I put on my iPod, crank the tunes and get transported to wherever my subject matter may be.
My subjects are varied, and I try to incorporate a human element whenever possible when I am doing a wildlife or landscape piece. I like to think that humans and wildlife can co-exist in an environment of mutual respect.
